Working in Healthcare, in French
Communication is fundamental to the helping relationship in health care. Several studies have shown that language barriers harm the helping relationship, and therefore people's health status.
For a francophone client, language is often the first tool in maintaining and restoring their health. By communicating in their mother tongue, the client finds it easier to:
- Ask for help
- Explain their experience and condition
- Express their needs and preferences
- Take charge of their health
This is why it is so important that health professionals with French-language skills can offer their services in French. We offer you a list of organizations that have demonstrated the ability to provide services in French so that you can contribute to the well-being and health of francophones.
